Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Offers Full Support to KP Amid Flood Emergency

In a strong show of solidarity, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has assured full support to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following the devastating floods that have caused massive destruction across the province.

Speaking to KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur over the phone, Maryam Nawaz extended heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones in the flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides, as well as in the recent helicopter crash during relief efforts. She emphasized that Punjab stands united with KP in this national tragedy.

“The people of Punjab share the grief of their brothers and sisters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We are ready to provide all resources and assistance needed in this difficult time,” Maryam Nawaz stated, also conveying condolences on behalf of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

KP’s Heavy Toll from Monsoon Floods

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), torrential rains and flash floods have claimed over 250 lives across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK).

In KP alone, districts including Battagram, Bajaur, Mansehra, Torghar, Swat, Buner, and Shangla have been hit the hardest:

  • 210 lives lost, including 184 men, 14 women, and 12 children.
  • 21 injured, with many still missing.
  • 45 houses damaged, 7 completely destroyed.
  • 3 schools swept away by floods.

Rescue teams from the Pakistan Army, PDMA, and local volunteers are conducting operations, but difficult terrain and continuous rain have hampered relief efforts.

Inter-Provincial Unity in Times of Crisis

CM Gandapur expressed gratitude to Maryam Nawaz for her call and assurance of aid. He highlighted that unity between provinces is crucial when facing disasters of this scale.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of lives, praising the bravery of those who died during rescue missions.

The government has officially declared Bajaur, Battagram, Mansehra, and Bunair as disaster-hit areas, with emergency measures underway.

National Concern and Relief Efforts

Authorities have warned that the situation remains critical, with the risk of further landslides and flooding if heavy rains persist. Emergency funds are being mobilized for rehabilitation once immediate rescue operations stabilize.

Maryam Nawaz’s outreach reflects growing calls for national unity, disaster preparedness, and stronger relief coordination across provinces.
