In a horrifying escalation of violence, at least 34 Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip since the early hours of Tuesday, July 29, 2025, according to reports from medical personnel and news agencies such as Al Jazeera.
Among the most severely affected areas was the Nuseirat region, where Israeli forces conducted overnight air raids. More than 30 casualties were reported there alone. Hospitals, already stretched thin, are now overwhelmed with injured civilians, including many women and children pulled from the debris of destroyed homes.
A striking image from Khan Younis, dated July 28, 2025, shows Palestinians standing near a car bombed in an overnight attack. The situation remains dire, with emergency crews racing to rescue survivors trapped under rubble.
Amid the ongoing siege, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) condemned what they described as a violent and discriminatory assault on Chris Smalls, the former president of the Amazon Labor Union and one of 21 international activists intercepted while delivering aid to Gaza aboard the humanitarian vessel Handala.
According to FFC, Smalls was beaten, choked, and kicked by seven Israeli personnel. The group is calling for international accountability and justice, emphasizing that the attack was not only violent but racially and politically charged.
Simultaneously, the West Bank witnessed its own tragedy when Odeh Muhammad Hadalin, a well-known activist documenting settler violence in the Masafer Yatta region, was shot and killed by an Israeli settler. Hadalin was standing near a community center in Umm al-Khair village when he was targeted.
His friend and fellow activist Basel Adra, co-director of the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land, mourned the loss:
“My dear friend Awdah was slaughtered this evening. This is how Israel erases us — one life at a time.”
Since the beginning of its military offensive on October 7, 2023, Israel has killed nearly 60,000 Palestinians, most of whom were women and children. The intense bombardment has devastated Gaza’s infrastructure, created a humanitarian disaster, and resulted in massive food shortages.
In response, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant last November, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity. Additionally, Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
