DG ISPR Highlights Ongoing Rescue Operations in Flood-Hit Areas of Pakistan

August 19, 2025 – The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has outlined the Pakistan Army’s extensive relief and rescue efforts in flood-affected regions across the country, as heavy monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc.

Director General ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, along with NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider and Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, briefed the media on Tuesday about the latest developments in ongoing rescue missions.

Army-Led Rescue and Relief Efforts

According to DG ISPR, the Army, under the directives of the Chief of Army Staff, has intensified operations to safeguard lives in flood-stricken zones:

  • 6,903 people rescued so far.
  • Nine medical camps set up in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to provide urgent healthcare.
  • Eight Army units deployed across KP, including two battalions in Buner.
  • Army Aviation engaged in aerial rescue and relief supply operations.

Government and NDMA Coordination

Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that, on the Prime Minister’s orders, relief work has been accelerated. He emphasized strong coordination between the Pakistan Army, NDMA, provincial authorities, and federal government to ensure timely assistance.

  • 25,000 people have been relocated to safe zones.
  • Relief packages, including food and medicine, are being dispatched to five severely affected districts.

Human Losses and Upcoming Weather Forecast

NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider reported:

  • 670 deaths and over 1,000 injuries from floods, rains, and landslides.
  • Several missing persons’ bodies have been recovered during ongoing search operations.
  • Heavy rainfall is forecasted to continue until August 23, with contingency measures already in place.

Relief on a National Scale

Since August 17, nearly 25,000 individuals have been rescued, provided shelter, and given immediate medical care. Authorities stressed that relief work will continue at full scale until the situation stabilizes.
