Google Expands AI Plus Plan to 40 Countries, Including Pakistan

Google AI Plus

Google has officially rolled out its AI Plus plan in 40 more countries, including Pakistan, giving users access to advanced artificial intelligence tools, cloud storage, and productivity features at an affordable price.

The move is part of Google’s broader strategy to expand its generative AI ecosystem globally and make cutting-edge AI more accessible to individuals, students, professionals, and families.

What is Google AI Plus?

First launched in Indonesia earlier this month, the Google AI Plus plan has received what the company calls a “positive response,” prompting its wider expansion.

The subscription plan, priced at Rs. 1,400 ($5) per month in Pakistan, includes a 50% discount for first-time subscribers for the first six months.

Subscribers gain access to several premium AI features that go beyond Google’s free offerings:

  • 🔹 Gemini 2.5 Pro access for handling complex queries and deeper research
  • 🔹 Image generation and editing with higher limits using the “Nano Banana” model
  • 🔹 Video generation through Google’s Veo 3 Fast model in apps like Gemini, Whisk, and Flow
  • 🔹 Gemini integration in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and other Workspace tools
  • 🔹 NotebookLM upgrades with improved research and summarization features
  • 🔹 200GB cloud storage across Photos, Drive, and Gmail
  • 🔹 Ability to share all features with up to 5 family members

In short, it’s a package designed to enhance both creativity and productivity, while also making Google’s AI ecosystem more affordable.

Why Does This Matter for Pakistan?

Pakistan’s digital landscape is expanding rapidly, with millions of students, freelancers, and businesses relying on digital tools for education, work, and content creation.

Farhan Qureshi, Country Director of Google Pakistan, said:

“Pakistan’s digital landscape is vibrant and growing, and we’ve been inspired by the creativity Pakistanis have shown in adopting AI tools. With Google AI Plus, we are making these tools even more accessible. This is part of our commitment to fuel Pakistan’s digital transformation.”

For Pakistan, this means:

  • Freelancers can boost productivity in writing, video editing, and design.
  • Students can use AI for research, assignments, and creative projects.
  • Businesses can streamline communication, data handling, and content creation.
  • Families benefit from shared storage and AI-powered tools across devices.

A Global Expansion Strategy

According to Google One’s Director of Engineering Rohan Shah, the rollout in 40 countries is designed to “help more people do more with Google AI for less.”

Besides Pakistan, the new countries include Bangladesh, Nigeria, Nepal, Egypt, Mexico, Ukraine, Kenya, Vietnam, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, and more.

Google AI Plus sits between Google’s free AI tools and its more expensive tiers like AI Pro ($20/month) and AI Ultra ($250/month). By pricing AI Plus at around $5, Google is positioning it as an affordable entry point for everyday users who need advanced AI features without enterprise-level costs.

Government Push on AI Adoption

The launch also aligns with Pakistan’s government initiatives. In July, Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja met with Google’s regional AI team to discuss expanding AI training in education and workforce development.

With the government encouraging AI adoption and Google rolling out affordable AI solutions, Pakistan is likely to see faster digital adoption across multiple sectors.

Google vs. ChatGPT and Other Rivals

Industry experts also view this move as Google’s direct challenge to OpenAI’s ChatGPT subscription plans. By bundling AI productivity tools with storage and family-sharing features, Google is attempting to lock users deeper into its ecosystem from Gmail and Docs to Drive and Photos.

For Pakistani users, this could mean more competition and better AI features at affordable prices as companies race to capture the growing digital market.

The Bottom Line

Google’s AI Plus plan is more than just a subscription it’s a gateway for Pakistanis to tap into advanced AI at a fraction of the cost of enterprise tools.

With affordable pricing, family sharing, and seamless integration across everyday Google apps, AI Plus could reshape how students, freelancers, and professionals in Pakistan use technology to work, learn, and create.

For now, the big question is: Will Pakistanis embrace paid AI tools as quickly as they embraced free ones like ChatGPT and Gemini?
